Restoring That Which Was Lost
July 15, 2012
|Hi, Rob here!
Today I want to share some thoughts about......
RESTORING THAT WHICH WAS LOST
This month's communique' is especially important because it gives you a brief overview of what is happening in the world today in the conflict of the kingdoms.
Genesis 1:26-28 -- "Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth'. And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. And God blessed them; and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.'"
Revelation 12:7-11 -- "And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. And the dragon and his angels waged war, and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place for them found in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, ‘Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of the brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night. And they overcame him because of the blood of the lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even to death.
Isaiah 14:12-14 -- "How you have fallen from heaven. O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, you who have weakened the nations. But you said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit on the mount of assembly in the recesses of the north. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.'"
God's great heart desire is to restore the unity and fellowship that was in His kingdom domain before the war with Lucifer and his rebellion. The Father's heart is community and oneness with His creation. Just look at the trinity as an example of His heart desire: They are three, but totally one in unity and purpose. Our God is a God of design and order. Look at the entire universe. It functions perfectly and without flaw because of the perfect design, order, and the laws that govern it.
Before the rebellion everything operated perfectly for ages upon ages, and the entire angelic force was created by God to help Him maintain His orderly creation. As creations of God they honored Him, loved Him, obeyed Him, and worshipped Him as the awesome loving God that He is. They obeyed because they saw how much He loved His creation and everything He had created including them. But one day, a seed of disloyalty and rebellion was found in the heart of His most lovely created being, Lucifer. Lucifer was the most magnificent of all God’s created beings. The Bible even says he was the source of all music and worship in the heavens. It was because of his position and beauty that he became lifted up in his own eyes and began to believe he could be equal with, or even greater than, God and have a throne of his own with his own worshippers. He became jealous of who God was and what He was. Lucifer wanted it too.
Lucifer’s influence among the angelic forces was great. So great, he was able to deceive about one-third of all the angels to side with him and challenge God. They rebelled and there was a war in heaven between those following Lucifer and those supporting God. Michael, the archangel, was in charge of the warrior angels and fought against the rebellion until he overcame them and they were cast out of heaven to the earth. Apparently, that is where Lucifer, now became known as Satan, set up his own kingdom domain with the desire in his heart o one day supplant God as the God of the entire universe so that He would be “like God”. The Bible calls this domain the kingdom of darkness because it is totally devoid of the light of God’s love and influence. It is ruled through fear and deception.
At some time later, God instituted His plan to restore unity, design, and orderliness throughout His creation by taking the rulership of the earth back from Satan without extending the war that was in heaven to the earth. His plan this time was to create a being that was like Him, not like the angels. This being would have its life force come directly from its union with God and would rule and reign over the earth and all that was on it for God as an extension of God Himself. The very life of God was breathed into this new creation that was called "man", or Adam. Since God owned the earth He simply gave a commission to Adam to regain control of it and reign as ruler over everything God had created upon it. This would effectively oust Satan as ruler over the earth. Mankind was created as a male and female creation in order to reproduce more of their very same kind and populate the earth. We really don’t know how long Adam and Eve lived on the earth before Satan came to attack them. Apparently Satan realized it was best to use his ability to deceive in order to defeat the humans and cause them to relinquish their position and commission from God. His tactic was to get them to focus their attention on the forbidden fruit, whatever it was, and ask them if God had really told them they could not eat it. He got them to focus on some interesting something instead of what God had said. They ended up listening to the lie of Satan that told them they could “be like God” – the same desire he had when he fell from heaven.
The Holy Spirit has shown us the same sequence that happens when Satan attacks with his deceptions. James 1:14-16 -- "But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren."
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God they experienced a separation from God and the Bible called it "death". They were no longer in union with God and they had literally given their right to rule over to Satan. Satan had effectively usurped their authority to rule the earth, but not to own it. God still “owned” the earth, but now Satan could rule it using the authority he had stolen from the humans. He had thwarted God’s first attempt at restoring the kingdom over all of His creation and Satan still had a kingdom of darkness to rule over on this earth. From that moment on, ever human ever born would be born into the kingdom of darkness and under Satan’s domain.
God still had a way to bring about the complete restoration of His kingdom, but now it would take much longer. His way was to come into a covenant relationship with the humans thereby re-establishing His partnership with humanity to be able to gain the right to rule the earth. He started this with Noah. The Bible says that Noah walked with God and obeyed whatever God instructed him to do. God instituted a covenant with Noah and he and his family were the only ones not killed in the flood.
Many generations later, God found Abram and established His covenant with him. God told Abram that all the families of the earth would be blessed through his descendants – these descendants became the people of Israel. God’s plan was to use the people of Israel as His covenant people and they would be the people through which He would flow to bring the kingdom of God to pass on the earth, but they failed to be faithful to God’s covenant and thereby became disqualified.
For many generations the prophets of God were telling the people that a King would be born to them that would restore His kingdom in their midst. They were looking for a king in the model of the world systems in which the king rules with an iron hand. They had no concept of a king that might come to them in the disguise of a carpenter.
Jesus was born through a descendant of Abram just as the prophets had foretold. He was born through a virgin who conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit so that the seed of the Father was God Himself. Jesus was the only human being that was fully human and was also fully God in the same body. When Jesus was born the scripture said that light had come into the darkness John 3:19, "And this is the judgment, that light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil."
With the birth of Jesus the light of God had penetrated into the earth realm. For the first thirty years of his life he lived as a normal human man, but had the realization of who he really was in his relationship to the Father God.
At the age of thirty Jesus was baptized in water by John the Baptist and was filled with the Holy Spirit. From that time on he began his ministry of reconciling and redeeming what had been lost by proclaiming that people should "repent for the kingdom of God is at hand". He demonstrated this reality by healing the sick and casting out demons and performing miracles and teaching everywhere he could about the realities of God’s kingdom. His life was a demonstration of how to live like a real human being the way God had intended with authority over all the things on the earth as well as spirit entities that were trying to bind up humans and keep them in slavery to them and in darkness so they could not see the truth of the kingdom of God being at hand and available to them. For three years Jesus apprenticed twelve men particularly and many others in a larger group of followers about the kingdom of God. At the end of the three years Jesus was crucified and His shedding of His blood was the making of a blood covenant between God and the human family. This was a new covenant and it made the way for every human being to now be able to escape the kingdom of darkness and be born into the kingdom of God. Every time someone heard the proclamation to "repent for the kingdom of God was at hand", believed that Jesus was the Lord of that kingdom and bowed their knee to Him, repented by rejecting their former allegiance to the kingdom of darkness, and was baptized in water that person was "called out of darkness", died to his old life in that darkness, and “born again” into a new life in the kingdom of God, and began to learn to live a new life in a new way in God’s kingdom of light. Those "called out" became the "ekklesia" which is Greek for "Church". Along with this transfer from one kingdom to the other they had entered the new covenant, the Holy Spirit came to live within them, and they began to experience the "great exchange" brought about by covenant through Jesus. They literally became "new creations" and were restored to fellowship with God the Father as a child in His family.
The Father loves Jesus more than anything in this universe and Jesus loves the Father in the same way. The Father has given Jesus a commission to restore the unity it had before the rebellion of Lucifer and the fall of humanity. In John chapter 17 Jesus prayed to the Father and asked that the Father would make all followers of Jesus "to be one even as the Father and Jesus are one". This is a prayer for the unity of the Church – the "ekklesia" – those called out of darkness. When someone is "born again" and becomes a part of the "ekklesia" this prayer is being answered and that which was lost is being restored and reconciled to the Father. When Jesus died on the cross He had completed the beginning foundational work of this reconciliation. He then returned to earth and met with His newly formed Church and said to them "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." -- Matthew 28:18-20.
When Jesus gave His Church this co-mission it was the same mission He had been assigned by the Father. Reconcile the world and restore what had been lost. He was actually making those called out of darkness and made new creations His "ambassadors". A true follower of Jesus is commissioned by Jesus to be a laborer together with Him (co-laborer) and be His ambassador of the covenant kingdom of which He is the King. What is an "ambassador"? It is defined as "an official representative sent by a country or kingdom to a foreign country or kingdom; or, a person who acts as a representative of a specific activity."
We have been sent from the kingdom of God under King Jesus back into the kingdom of darkness with His proclamation "repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand". We have been given His authority and His power by using the power of attorney in His name. Luke 10:19 -- "Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you."
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 -- "Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
Mark 16:15-18 -- "Go into all the world and proclaim or declare the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who have believed: In My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it shall not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.
Matthew 11:29 -- "Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, …"
We are now working closely with Him as His body on this earth while receiving directions from Him, the Head of the body, to bring to pass the Father’s dream of a unified kingdom filled with loving sons and daughters that are just like Jesus. Our divine mission in this life is to penetrate the kingdom of darkness and reconciled those in darkness to the loving-kindness of our King and our Father. To deliver them from the blindness and darkness that you once experienced because "unless one is born again, you cannot see the kingdom of God" – John 3:3. Let us demonstrate our love and gratefulness to the Father for sending Jesus to redeem us and reconcile us by doing what He is commanding us to do. He never commanded us to invite people to come to a church meeting; He commanded us to GO and MAKE DISCIPLES as His representatives and work with Him to restore that which was lost in order to fulfill the Father’s heart desire. Jesus said we are the light the light of the world. Matthew 5:14-16 -- "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a lampstand; and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
He is the light and "as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). Light always "penetrates" darkness and drives it out. We, the "called out ones", are His light in this world and we are to penetrate the kingdom of darkness as His ambassadors with His message and set the captives free and reconcile them to our loving heavenly Father. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:3-5: "And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus sake." The reason for us learning to walk in the Spirit, live by faith, understand who we are "in Him", prosper in what we do, and walk in divine health is to be able to do the same things He did when He was walking on this earth. He is our model. Who is your model for the way you live?
Are you, as a follower of Jesus Christ, being the light and piercing the darkness? Or are you simply enjoying having nice church meetings and fellowship with other Christians and hiding your light under a bushel inside the four walls of your church buildings? Is the one who comes to us disguised as an angle of light ( 2 Corinthians 11:14) deceiving us and blinding us to our responsibility as part of the body of Christ on this earth? Think about it !
Until then, may the Lord open the eyes of your heart and understanding, may He make His internal presence known to you in a very real way, and may He fill you with His peace.
