Your experience in daily life as a Christian in covenant with God through Jesus doesn't seem to agree with what the Bible says about you does it?
Even though the Scripture declares that you are seated in heavenly places in Christ and you are a new creation in Christ you still live in this world with all of its problems. You must live in a world that is still corrupted by sin. You still retain old memories and habits you developed from your life in the kingdom of darkness and must deal with them on a daily basis according to Paul’s writings in Romans 7:14-8:17.
Yet from God’s perspective He sees you as having been crucified with Christ, raised up with Him, seated with Him at the right hand of God, having the life of Jesus within you, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and sinless because of Jesus’ substitution death for you bringing you into covenant with Him.
When you were "born again" you instantaneously received your position in Christ from God’s perspective. What an absolutely amazing fact. Even now, while you still struggle with sin and the old memories and habits and all of their corrupt desires, feelings, and actions, God sees you as one of His children in a perfect state of righteousness and sinlessness. Why? How? Because you are “IN HIM” through covenant.
When God says He has done something for you it is a completed finished fact. The problem you and I have is that in order to walk it out in life we first have to "BELIEVE IT" and learn to refocus our natural faith from our earthly experiences to faith in Him and what He says.
Remember the concept of the seed?
When you were born again you instantly received everything God’s word says you have and are. This is God’s perspective. You are a completed finished product in the image of Jesus.
From our perspective all we see is the seed. In our daily experience we don’t see the completed finished product yet. We see the temporal struggles we have in this world with the daily issues of life.
We may have everything the Scriptures say we have, but our experience in living doesn’t bear this out as being true yet.
We need to grow from the seed form into the mature fully completed adult. We need to grow into spiritual maturity. How do we do this?
THE PROCESS OF SPIRITUAL MATURITY OCCURS AS YOU REALIZE YOUR POSITION IN CHRIST AND PUT IT TO WORK IN YOUR PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE.
How do we do this? BY FAITH.
2 Corinthians 5:7 -- "For we walk by faith, not by sight."
God’s goal is that you and I grow out of this seed form, babe in Christ, into the fully developed image of Jesus so that we do what Jesus said we would do "he who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to the Father."
2 Corinthians 5:17 -- "Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”"
Romans 5:17 -- "For if by the transgression on one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ."
Romans 8:35-39 -- God says we are to be overwhelming conquerors though our covenant with Jesus
The Bible is full of scriptures that talk to you and me about this maturing and development process.
So the next question you must ask yourself is how do you become transformed from what you are in the natural to what God says you are in your position in Christ.
Much of this transformation process takes place as we are equipped by a discipler in our lives as we are shown how to walk by faith and live as led by the Spirit. Much of this can take place in the intimacy of the small group meetings in our homes.
